Goal: This committee focuses on activities to raise awareness about domestic violence in various creative ways.
Description: Currently the Outreach Committee is working on AAINA programs and publicity. Aaina is a South Asian women's festival to be held on April 9-11, 2010. Volunteers are working to create a zine, and to organize participants in a program called Community Speaks, where survivors can speak out about experiences of violence.
Volunteer Profile: Outreach committee roles are great for you if you love to speak with people to engage them on an issue, are passionate and love public-speaking, tabling, flyering, and creative thinking to raise awareness.
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per month

Goal: The Peaceful Families Task Force seeks to educate and inform the Muslim community about domestic violence and the ideals of creating a peaceful family environment.
Description: The Peaceful Families Task Force works within the Muslim community to outreach and mobilize around the issues of domestic violence through conferences, trainings and community activism. It also teaches the values of having a peaceful family by building on the concept of eliminating violence at its roots. The Peaceful Families Taskforce strives to pull ideals from Islam itself to provide the underpinning for a healthy family model.

Goal: The goal of this group is to engage South Asian women in south King County to support survivors of domestic violence by decreasing isolation and increasing access to resources and services.
Description: This volunteer committee is Chaya's presence in south King County, and to connect with diverse South Asian communities and groups there. Volunteers in this group will take leadership in conducting seminars and skills-building workshops on various issues that impact a survivor's choices, such as health and wellness, spirituality, immigration, housing, job skills, financial stability, and other related matters.
Volunteer Profile: This opportunity is ideal for anyone living or working in the south Kind county area who is interested in developing creative community-based strategies for violence prevention and supporting survivors of abuse.
Time Commitment: up to 4 hrs a month

Goal: The goal of this taskforce is to raise funds for Chaya and coordinate fundraisers like our annual auction and brunch.
Description: The FR Task Force is responsible for planning events and benefits that help to raise funds for Chaya's sustainability.
Volunteer Profile: This committee would be ideal for creative individuals with event-planning ideas and organizational skills that can help put an event or benefit together.
Time Commitment: 3-6 hrs a month
Once a month meeting: 2 hrs
Note: Generally this committee is more active from November thru June

Goal: The goal is to engage in-office volunteers in creating an efficient administrative working system at Chaya.
Description: Chaya requires volunteer support in general administrative and other office duties as needed. This could include administrative tasks such as database maintenance, documentation, filing, website maintenance, and monthly communications (e-bulletins).
Volunteer Profile: This is ideal for individuals interested in organizing office affairs and putting their computer skills to use.
Time Commitment: 2-4 hrs month minimum
